@Gombessa & @ShiroKuro I appreciate the inputs from both of you. It's interesting to learn about various approaches to forum usage. I supposed I am the odd one, 'cause I also always use the "Active threads" page on PianoWorld, LOL
I certainly don't want to disrupt your or other people's workflow. This does make me re-examine why I wanted some improvement. When I dug a litter deeper, I just realized the real sticking point is actually specifically in Safari on iPad, where it always takes more than two gestures (tap, or swipe) to go from a thread to all discussions page:
- the little < icon on top left: first tap activates a slide-in list of thread titles, and a second tap goes back to previous page
- the "Piano | Tell - World Forum" title tab will go to default home page, but the navigation strip that contains "All discussions" at the top is hidden and needs another swipe to reveal itself. (Safari on MacOS does not do this.)
I can live with this, and has been for a long time now. But it's the recent update at PianoClack forum, which also uses Flarum platform, that makes me realize this can be better, at least for my habit of browsing the forum.
On any subform page, the navigation list on the left column makes going to other subforum quite direct. This what makes me think having the home page just big box panels of forum names feels just a bit unnecessary other than it is a less cluttered page to new users.
